What a sailing trip in San Blas feels like

Some trips take you far away. This one also takes you out of your routine.

For a few days, the alarm clock loses its importance, your phone stops setting the pace and time slows back down to a more human speed. You wake up on the sea, have breakfast with an island on the horizon, swim before you even think about your plans and end the day sharing a table under a sky that needs no filters. A sailboat or catamaran trip around San Blas isn't just a destination: it's a real pause from your usual way of living.

“Come and remember what it feels like to have the whole day ahead of you.”

Every day starts with a different possibility

One morning you might explore an island; another, paddle through crystal-clear water; another, read, chat or let the hours go by without feeling you have to "do something". The route adapts to the sea, the weather and the moment, so every trip keeps its ability to surprise you.

  • Waking up on the sea

You open your eyes to a new island on the horizon and the sound of the water marking the start of the day.

  • Exploring without rushing

Snorkel, sail, fish, paddle, walk around the island or let the group decide what today is about.

  • Truly sharing

Long conversations, unhurried meals and moments that don't need a photo to stay with you.

  • Coming back with a new outlook

When you step out of your routine, new ways of looking at your everyday life appear too.

Why San Blas is different: its own rhythm

You sail through Guna Yala, an autonomous indigenous territory of 365 white sand islands, most of them uninhabited. Here Guna culture sets the pace: fishermen in ulus, women dressed in molas and their own rules that every visitor respects.

The sea sets the route, the wind has a say in the decisions and every island invites you to stay a little longer. No two days are alike: there is a plan, but rigidity, luckily, stays on land.

The only schedule that really matters is getting to the hammock in time for the sunset.

Marina was essential to making our experience in San Blas perfect from the beginning. She was the one who introduced us to Montse and Hernando's sailboat, and thanks to her attentive and careful mediation, we had one of the most special trips of our lives. EN

From the first contact, Marina was extremely patient and dedicated, always answering all our questions (and there were many!) with kindness, clarity and a lot of affection. Even from a distance, we felt confident and welcomed at all times.

She really cares about offering experiences that touch the heart, and she achieved this masterfully. We are very grateful for all the care, attention to detail and availability.

I recommend Marina's work with my eyes closed. She makes planning a trip something easy, safe and special. Thank you for everything!

An out-of-this-world experience. Being on a sailboat in San Blas is not just about sailing around the Caribbean, it is about understanding how the Guna people work, understanding that everything you eat is fresh and depends on what you catch that day, and sharing experiences with the locals and hosts, who are wonderful by the way. Silvia and Pablo are excellent hosts, and the meals prepared by Silvia are very tasty. Everything was perfect. We highly recommend this experience.

Marina saved my and my friends' trip to Panama by organizing a three-day sailing trip to the beautiful islands of the San Blas/Kuna Yala archipelago overnight. Everything was easy with her, and in Panama nothing is easy. The experience on the Bavaria 39 with Captain Marcelo was incredible. A thousand thanks to both of them, and to the sailor Jessy for her friendliness and incredible meals. If you travel to San Blas, it is essential that Sailing Life Experience organize the trip, it changes your life!!!!

We had perfect days aboard the Catamaran 570 this summer. We spent 3 days full of nature, wonderful food and comfort on board, with a crew that made all the difference. We visited paradisiacal islands, did stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, saw incredible marine life and a perfect starry sky. Cesar and Georgina served us every day with food and drinks worthy of a hotel, with great care and variety. Miguel, our sailor, was always available with the “uber” boat for tours. Thank you, Mari, for organizing another unforgettable trip for us, for the second time! The best experience in San Blas!

About Guna Yala

San Blas is the name given to the area by the government, but since gaining autonomy the name given by the Indians is Kuna Yala or Guna Yala, which means Mountain of Gunas. The capital of the comarca is El Porvenir.

This territory was relatively closed to foreigners until the revolution of 1925. After this year the indigenous people claimed independence from Panama, which gave them the authority to govern the comarca autonomously. If you visit the San Blas area you are obliged to follow the rules of the Guna Indians.

These islands preserve the ancestral essence of a different world thanks to the Guna culture while maintaining their customs and traditions. You will see their women wearing ¨molas¨, colourful fabrics and striking designs that characterise them, their costume is handmade and is complemented by a series of bracelets and earrings.

The men usually fish in their handmade wooden canoes, also called ¨Ulu’s¨. The fish and lobster they catch are later sold or traded for goods on the mainland.

Don’t miss the opportunity to interact with the Guna Indians, they are reserved but very friendly.
